About Hussein

Hussein is the Principal of Kanani Chartered Professional Accountant. He was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta and is a graduate of the University of Calgary and the University of Saskatchewan, obtaining the Bachelor of Commerce (BComm - Accounting), and the Master of Professional Accounting (MPAcc) degree, respectively. He then obtained the Chartered Accountant designation, becoming a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Hussein has over 15 years of experience as an accountant in Calgary. He obtained his professional experience at Ernst & Young LLP and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in Calgary, Alberta, starting in 2001. During his time with these firms, he provided audit and review services, and corporate tax services to a variety of private companies, small businesses, publicly listed entities, and service organizations in various industries, including:

• Healthcare
• Oil & Gas
• Information technology
• Retail

In 2015, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta merged with the Certified General Accountants Association of Alberta and the Society of Certified Management Accountants of Alberta to form CPA Alberta (Chartered Professional Accountants Alberta), to align with CPA Canada. As such, Hussein is a member of CPA Alberta, and CPA Canada.
